Document Viewing as a Translator

At Translayte, we are constantly innovating to make the translation workflow smoother and more efficient for our users. As part of our ongoing efforts to enhance the platform, we're excited to introduce the In-browser document viewing update for Translators. Translators can now handle tasks faster, viewing files and managing task quotes, right within the browser.

What’s New?

With the latest update, Translators can now:

  • View assigned documents directly in the browser upon receiving an invite.
  • Submit quotes for translation tasks immediately after reviewing the document.
  • Download documents only once they have been officially assigned to the task.

This update eliminates unnecessary delays, improves task acceptance workflows, and ensures better decision-making for translators before committing to a project.

How It Works: A Step-by-Step Guide


1. Receive an Invite

Once a Project Manager invites you to a task, you will receive an email to view task, which redirects you directly to the platform.

2. View the File in the Browser

When you click on the invite section on your dashboard, you will now be able to access file and preview the document directly in your browser. This means you can review the translation content immediately without needing to download any files, giving you a quick, hassle-free way to assess the scope of the work.

3. Submit a Quote

After viewing the document, you can provide a quote for the task. This can be done in just a few clicks, ensuring you have full visibility of the content before setting your price or agreeing to the terms.

4. Download the Document (Upon Assignment)

Documents are only downloadable once the task is accepted and/or assigned to you. This feature ensures that you have all the necessary resources and are fully committed to the task before downloading the file for translation or certification work.

With the ability to view documents instantly in the browser, translators can now make faster, more informed decisions about whether to accept or decline a task. There's no need to wait for file downloads, which saves valuable time, especially for large or complex files.

This update improves the efficiency of task management. By allowing you to view the document before submitting a quote, the platform reduces the back-and-forth between Project Managers and Translators, making the process more fluid and less time-consuming.

Ensuring that documents are only downloadable after assignment provides an additional layer of security. This helps maintain control over sensitive or proprietary content until the task is fully confirmed.

Supported browsers

PDF Embed API is supported on the latest versions of the following browsers:

  • Windows - Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox.
  • macOS - Safari, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox.
  • Android - Google Chrome.
  • iOS - Safari, Google Chrome.

Mobile support

Much of what the PDF Embed API delivers is supported in the mobile devices. However, there are some limitations:

  • Annotation tools are not supported on phones in Full Window embed mode. These tools are supported on tablets (both Android and iOS).
  • Print functionality is unsupported.
  • PDF download is unsupported on iOS devices, but it is supported on Android.

PDF Embed API provides some optimizations in order to enhance the mobile view experience. These optimizations are available only in mobile phone browsers.
